The Festival of Sacred Arts - March 28th to April 11th

kirkjan_uti_flottThe Festival of Sacred Arts 2010 was ongoing in Hallgrímskirkja church during March 28th - April 11th. More than six thousand guests visited the festival during this period and took part in its various events, conducted by hundreds of local and foreign artists.

Among the highlights of this year's festival were “A German Requiem” by Johannes Brahms, performed by The Hallgrímskirkja Motet Choir with soloists Birgitte Christensen and Andreas Schmidt and orchestra of young soloists and four horn players from Basel, Switzerland and from the The Iceland Symphony Orchestra and soloists, conducted by Hörður Áskelsson; Schnittke’s fourth symphony performed by Ísafold Chamber Orcehstra  and Schola cantorum, conducted by Daníel Bjarnason and The Four Beasts´ Amen - Mass for organ and electronics, where Hans Ola Ericsson, renowned Swedish organist performed his own composition.
